L’Alliance pour la Plančte, a collective made up of NGO's and associations in France, is calling out to Parisian and all European citizens to turn of their lights for five minutes on February 1st. The date is choosen because a new report will be submitted in Paris the next day by GIEC, an intergovernmental group of experts on climate change for the United Nations. The '5 minutes of respite' are meant to attract the eyes of the media, and show the French presidental candidates that global climate change must be included in the political debate.
